FEZ and UNTITLED-1985

Two new pieces came up for auction recently with provenance from an Australian artist named Ken Reinhard a mixed media artist who leveraged bold graphics in his work.

FEZ and an ink rolled piece dated 1984 and 1985 respectively.

It is likely that KIPP met Reinhard during the Irving Sculpture Gallery in 1985 in Sydney.

TAU, FLUX, UNTITLED (BLUE YELLOW) and MORE

A busy KIPP week after receiving a small catalog of the 1962 Parsons show, I happened to see an email from KIPP collector, Beau Ott, with some data corrections and updates - including an article dating BADGE. This led to a new general web search and I located imagery at the Smithsonian of TAU and FLUX.

BADGE and PLUMB appear to be the first examples of the bolted plates era.

Always exciting to find more information after all these years.

PUFFIN (blue blue) and UNTITLED

Two new entries to highlight this week:

PUFFIN (blue blue) is a painted steel piece created in 1967 from the Mary and John Pappajohn collection. The lighter blue used here was an unusual departure from the bold primary colors KIPP generally utilized in this period.

UNTITLED a rolled ink piece from 1981.
