WINK - maquette

The maquette for WINK came up for auction at the Wright Auction House scheduled for 29 SEPT 2016.
Although similar in spirit to the realized version on the University of Pennsylvania campus, the two pieces are quite different.

BOXTOP

I did not have this piece recorded but it was included in the 1969 show, Exhibition in Memory of Rene d'Harnoncourt at the American Federation of the Arts in NYC presented by the Institute of International Education.
Rene d'Harnoncourt was the director at the Museum of Modern Art from 1949-1967. He was killed on Long Island during on a walk by a drunk driver while preparing this show with the president of IIE.
BOXTOP was lent to the exhibit by KIPP.

TREFOIL and SOLSTICE

Secured a few old catalogs and books from the interwebs and they are now trickling in. So great to finally see images of SOLSTICE and TREFOIL standing alongside TRIANON in 1963.

ALBATROSS

While paging through James Meyer's Minimalism tome, I was surprised to find a picture from the 1969 Art of the Real: USA show at MOMA with a caption focused on Carl Andre's Fall - pg 160. In the background, along with a Calder, stands ALBATROSS.
In most of the show notes, I have found only the maquette listed but this photo definitely shows ALBATROSS in all it's full-sized glory.
